Regina Webster & Associates was retained as a subconsultant to Camp Dresser and McKee to provide traffic feasibility analysis of providing a pedestrian crossing in front of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line Western Avenue (Congress) Station. The intent of the study was to develop a template for future pedestrian crossing analyses. Traffic and pedestrian data were collected around the station.

A simulation of the vehicular and pedestrian traffic with and without the crossing was made to pinpoint impacts. Accidents and geometric features for bus stop and parking locations were also reviewed. The scope of work included coordination with the City of Chicago and presentation of the simulation to the CTA.
